Artist's Statement :

My works are based on memories of my home town. I long for my native place, Ladakh as I was staying away from it for a long time. I miss the deep valleys, the Grandeur Mountains and its wonderful architecture. The memories of the hills and the beautiful landscape instilled and provoked my creative spirit. My works are created with egg trays. As a painter I consider egg cartons as two-and-a-half dimensional objects which offer me remarkable possibilities for imagery. The surface of the material is much similar to mountains, which connects the memory of landscape. The egg tray structure here fulfils a transitional function, like a metaphor. I paint on the egg trays with layers of memories of my home town. Sometimes I use paper pulp which I made with the smash of egg trays. The pulp is used to create a relief architectural form on the surface of egg trays, which I took inspiration from Ladakh where the Architecture had been constructed on the surface of the mountains. I lived in and around the mountains in which I was born and brought up. As I grow, mountain ranges are getting away from me. Now it is the third year I've not been home yet it has always stayed in my mind therefore it has been part of my art works.
