Artist's Statement :

I started working from my personal thoughts and experiences. My art practice has been influenced by my personal experiences during this pandemic situation. In this lockdown , caged inside the four walls, I remembered my childhood, village life the most. The core of my practice have come from these memories. I've represented the village life, the environment of village through my works. I've portrayed some objects that are symbolizing village life ; 'Kochuripana' ( water hyacinth) is one of them . I used to play with it in childhood. When I see water hyacinths in the surroundings at Shantiniketan, it reminds me of my childhood. I wish to revisit those days through making toys with water hyacinths. The flower of water hyacinths is also a fascinating object to me. The colour and shape of the flower attract me .
Colour has an important role in my works. The use of colours in my works , is influenced by the works of expressionism. Multiple colours have been used in many of my works , where colours are the symbols of different feelings and emotions. I've worked mostly in oil paint. The characters of oil paint as a medium like application of colours, strokes etc. attract me. I like to make three dimensional objects using cardboard. Cardboard is a easily available material and easy to use. Besides these I use watercolour, acrylic colour etc. in my works. I'm trying to explore some new mediums too.
