Artist's Statement :

Human body has an enormous capacity to tell stories. It reveals itself like the pages of a book, waiting to be read. My interest in painting human bodies shifted from its form and identity to a more intimate capture of the surface and the scars. Scars, often considered ugly became the source of different stories and opened possibilities of connection with the people whom I chose to paint. A scar, however minimal could reveal the life and the lifestyle of the individual. The skin once stitched left an impression that can be decoded. Thus, the body without the face became a portrait projecting the personality. With the use of mixed media alternate realities of human skin has been portrayed thereby questioning its worth.
